Lauren Novo is the Director of Communications & Advancement and a Corporate Officer at BSCS Science Learning. She leverages a decade of experience in strategic planning, media relations, partnership development, branding, creative writing, and event planning to increase awareness of and support for the organization.
Lauren joined BSCS in 2017 as the organization was heading into its 60th Anniversary. Over the next year, she spearheaded a "60 Years of Stories" campaign that celebrated BSCS's legacy and reflected its vision for the future. This campaign engaged long-time friends of BSCS and focused on the people, rather than on the accomplishments, that have shaped the organization's history. At the same time, BSCS rolled out a new brand presence emphasizing its commitment to pursuing an equitable, inclusive, and just future for science learning. BSCS's impact continues to grow annually -- and Lauren especially enjoys working with science and education journalists to share stories about the organization's meaningful research and development work.
Prior to BSCS, Lauren was a Group Director at a nationally-recognized public relations agency, where she represented brands ranging from global tourism destinations and Fortune 500 companies to national sports brands and nonprofit organizations. Lauren graduated summa cum laude from Florida State University with dual B.S. and B.A. degrees in communications and creative writing. Born and raised in Florida, she is a mountain girl at heart and loves life in Colorado. She spends her spare time running, hiking, and skiing across the Rocky Mountains.
